Working at SCUK

Sumitomo Chemical UK accepts between one and four summer interns between June and August. This is an opportunity for interns to take on work that contributes to our business and positively impacts the clients and communities we serve. You will learn from us, develop your technical skills, experience what it is like to work for a small team in a global company, and gain valuable experience for your future career.

The internship generally lasts 3 months and is paid for (currently, £1,600 per calendar month).

The 2023 intake for interns has ended. Please check again next year.

What do we do?

Sumitomo Chemical (UK) is part of the Sumitomo Chemical group, a Tokyo-listed company (current annual report – opens in new tab). We distribute in Europe, Middle East and Africa a wide range of insect control products manufactured by our global affiliates, alongside providing technical and regulatory support that is second to none. Our cutting-edge active substances are used globally to manufacture household insecticides, indoor and urban insect control products for professional use, and for animal health and pharmaceutical products.

What is it like to work for us?

We are proud of our place at the cutting edge of so many technologies dedicated to saving lives, protecting health and enhancing social well-being, and of our diverse and international team. We benefit from being part of a major global chemical corporation, yet SCUK is small enough to retain a very informal, start-up like culture, and for each colleague to have a real impact.

Our small team comprises very talented colleagues from all over the globe. At SCUK you will work daily with colleagues from different disciplines, each one focused on making a meaningful difference to our business, and having a key role in generating a sustainable society and a better tomorrow. And as part of a group with 40 thousand employees and that generates over US$20bn in annual revenues, you will be working close to and meeting colleagues and clients from all over the globe.

We believe in treating and paying our colleagues fairly and we offer, as standard, a very generous package to all colleagues, including enhanced maternity and paternity leave, a generous bonus scheme, extended holidays, the possibility to work remotely, as well as private medical and dental health care and life assurance. In return, we expect each colleague to abide by the very highest ethical standards, take ownership of tasks, hold themselves accountable and truly live and represent our values.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we do encourage applications from minority and under-represented groups.
