If warranted, we may also allow access to this information in special emergencies where physical safety is at risk.

5. We reserve the right to disclose any information obtained from or about you to third parties in connection with a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or sale of all or substantially all of SCUK’s assets.

Please note that SCUK may reject requests that are excessive or a misuse of the relevant right.

a. Access right. You may have the right to obtain confirmation of whether SCUK processes personal data in relation to you and, if so, gain access to a copy thereof. For certain kinds of data, you may also have a right to data portability.

b. Data accuracy: right of rectification and right to erasure. You may have the possibility of rectification (in case of inaccurate or incomplete data) or obtain the erasure of your personal data, provided that the applicable legal requirements are met. In addition, you may have the right to object to the processing of personal data based on SCUK’s legitimate interests (see table above) and to otherwise obtain the restriction of certain forms of processing in specific circumstances. Who has access to your personal data?

Your personal data can be shared with Sumitomo Chemical Company (“SCC”) in Japan and if needed with other affiliates of SCC. Within these entities, the following staff members have access to your data:

  • members of management;
  • manager to whom you would report in the function.

In certain cases, technical staff members may have access to your personal data, but only insofar this is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of our technical systems.

SCUK may make use of external service providers or third parties for any of the purposes described above (e.g. recruitment websites or agencies conducting background checks). In such case, access to your personal data will be limited to the purposes described in this Privacy Statement, and in accordance with the requirements of the applicable data protection legislation.

How long do we retain your personal data?

If your application is not successful, we will not retain your personal data for more than 6 months after the end of the recruitment process. We may hold your data for up to 30 days after the stated retention period in order to process its removal.

If your application is successful, your personal data obtained in the context of the application and recruitment procedure will be included in your personnel file. You will then be informed separately of how SCUK processes personal data of its personnel.

Accessing and correcting your personal data

You have a legal right to access your personal data, to have them corrected, to have them erased, or to receive them in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format that can be transferred to another party.
